Take ActionWhat: Women's Mind at Ease Conference
When: Thursday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Where: Santa Rita Courts in the main welcoming center 2341 Corta St, Austin, TX 78702 We are planning to have roughly about 50-70 women (the ages of the women will range). Our theme for the conference is healthy living and wellness because many of these women don't have time to relax and take care of their bodies. For the conference we will have 2 speakers and 4 different activity stations. We will have one speaker that begins talking with the women and gets them motivated then we will break up into the four stations. When each women walks in they will be given a certain color necklace and that will signify what group they are in. Station 1: we will have a cooking instructor teaching them how to make different types of healthy salads and places to buy healthy foods that aren't very expensive. Station 2: will be social circles where one of the speakers sit with the group and everyone just makes conversation and talks about how they are doing (this will also give them time to eat) and ways to better improve their lifestyle habits. Station 3: will be yoga that focuses on breathing techniques and relaxation with stretching and a little movement. Station 4: a station that focuses on skin care with facials and nail painting. Each station will have 15-20 women and will last about 30 minutes each. We had 14 raffle baskets to give away that were filled with goodies and we had around 20 gift cards from places around their area. Feedback |
We received a lot of positive feedback from the women and how our event impacted their day in such a powerful way. It was so touching to hear these women's stories and make they feel pampered. We got many comments on how the face masks helped their skin and body feel super refreshed and soft. Our yoga instructor was also a a big part in the outcome of the conference and was so flexible with our schedule. She handed out cards for a nonprofit organization that offers yoga classes to those who can't afford a gym membership or classes and gave out take home sheets for at-home yoga. Overall I think the women really enjoyed their time at the conference and next year we will have even more women. The raffle baskets were filled with a large variety of different things and I am grateful for those who came because it is special to have those items and remember the memories from this conference.
